Don’t Be Fooled

Monday Jan 23, 2023
Have you ever listened to someone who was trying to sound like they knew what they were talking about, but you could tell that they were bluffing? That’s what’s going on today as people have coined the phrase, “I am speaking my truth.” When did it become possible to create new truth, as if we were just changing ingredients in a recipe?
Pretending to be an authority is as old as the Old Testament. What’s at the root of this is a desire to have our own way, hence, the creation of our own version of the truth. God’s Word is truth, but even the ruler Pilate in the New Testament didn’t recognize the truth. He was the one who asked Jesus, “What is truth?” And today, we can tell that many have the same question, and the answer is hiding in plain sight.
Jesus said this plain statement to His disciples in John 14:6: "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
Are we becoming confused because we’re overfed on cultural information and preferences but starving spiritually? Let’s look at three things you can do to protect yourself from deception.

Trailer-Season 3 on Keep the Heart
Monday Jan 16, 2023
Monday Jan 16, 2023
Welcome to season 3 of Keep the Heart podcast. I’m your host, Francie Taylor from Keep the Heart, a ministry devoted to making Bible study meaningful through Bible application and personal study. We’ve been told by our listeners that these podcast episodes feel like sitting at the dining room table with our Bibles, having coffee while discussing the issues of life with a sister friend.
Each episode covers interpersonal issues of life from a biblical perspective, with a goal of helping us learn how to handle matters wisely. Proverbs 16:20 tells us that "He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he." It’s a challenge to face so many issues, but wise handling is possible when we know the principles of scripture and apply them.

Is Social Media Your Bible?
Monday Dec 19, 2022
Monday Dec 19, 2022
Is social media your Bible?” The topic for this episode was born out the realization that the dramatic increase of biblical illiteracy is directly related to the dramatically addictive popularity of social media. It’s such a rabbit hole, isn’t it?
Now before you worry that I’m about to bash social media, relax. That would be insincere on my part, since Keep the Heart has a presence on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. With all technology, there is a positive use and a negative use. It’s not the technology that abuses us; we abuse technology.
We often get to choose the influencers in our lives, and while there’s nothing inherently wrong with admiring social media voices, we risk losing a balanced perspective when the diet of our minds is mostly made up of junk food. Let’s look at four indicators that you may have allowed yourself to drift into a zone where cultural influences have become time-consuming dictators of your life, and what you can do about it.
